Discover testimonials of long-gone megalithic and roman civilizations and ride through villages that seem to have stopped in time. This is a remarkably well-preserved region with a unique gastronomy and renowned wines.
Day 1 Welcome to Alentejo – Evora : Open air museum
In and around Évora the Roman times come back to life. Ride through a well-preserved city center, full of extraordinary monuments (UNESCO world heritage) and lined with romantic cobble-stoned lanes.
Day 2 Travel Back to the Megalith Times
Quiet back roads will take you to some of the most important Megalithic Monuments in the Iberia. Once in Arraiolos, well known for its hand-made tapestries, mingle with the locals at the main square and admire it’s Celtic round shaped castle. (52km/32m or 25km/15m)
Day 3 Ride along Beautiful Olive Groves
Biking across fertile valleys and small villages, you can still see women embroidering tapestries in front of their houses. Enter Estremoz through a drawbridge and ride the Old Town slate paved streets up to the Castle and its Keep Tower. (66km/40m)
Day 4 Vila Viçosa – The White Gold Capital
Pedal on the small roads that connect the Marble Quarries and be impressed by these open air mining sites. In Vila Viçosa, everything seems to be made of marble, from the pavement and benches on the streets to its Ducal Palace. (23km/14m)
Day 5 Crossing Ancient Fortresses & Borders
You will ride through “forgotten” villages, castles and a very unusual fortress-like Chapel. Wander the whitewashed hilltop village of Monsaraz, with its charming cobblestoned streets, Keep Tower and great views over the plains and the Alqueva Lake. (50km/31m or 76km/47m)
Day 6 Vineyards & Wine
In this remote area, wonderful whitewashed villages are hidden in rolling hills. Scenic back roads take you through endless vineyards and olive groves, where renowned Portuguese wines are produced. (66km/41m)
Day 7 Fairwell
One last chance to admire Evora before leaving the quietness of the Alentejo,
I loved all the places we stayed and I would recommed them for anyone going in the Alentejo region. The Portugese people are so wonderful. They are open and kind. We liked the food and loved the bread.

I had a fantastic time in Portugal, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Your knowledge and enthusiasm of Portugal made the entire trip an experience I will never forget. Thanks!!! THANK YOU for being such a wonderful host on a trip that I will remember forever. Last night, I went through all the pictures I took, and they really made me appreciate the good time I had in Portugal!
